Simple idea…but not-so-simple process

Organic baby food with no additives or preservatives. Simple, right? Not really.

There is a reason so few companies offer these products. The process of becoming USDA Certified Organic is labor intensive, difficult and often frustrating.

You must find a supplier that follows all of the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) guidelines. There is a mountain of paperwork, specialized training, specified production facilities and inspections from multiple government agencies. Because this process is so daunting, most companies just give up before achieving the organic certification.

While the certification process is not enjoyable for companies seeking USDA Certified Organic status, it’s great news for consumers. You can be confident that the quality of your food is superior, from the farm all the way to your freezer.

How it’s made

Nature’s Simple Blends is all about quality. We purchase the freshest fruits and vegetables from our USDA Certified Organic supplier.

The produce is then peeled, steamed, pureed into a variety of tasty blends and then quickly frozen in allergen-free, serving-size containers to retain maximum nutritional content and flavor. There are no chemical additives, preservatives, artificial colors, salt or sugar/corn syrup added.

Some of the blends may not seem to be obvious combinations (broccoli and butternut squash?). But each blend has been thoroughly tested and approved by our “Research Team.”

We work side-by-side with the NOP and local and state health departments to make sure the food you serve your baby is safe and fresh.

Our focus on the freshest ingredients means not all blends are available at all times of the year. Check our menu for current selections, including our monthly Special Blends.

How it’s delivered

Because our blends are stored in your freezer instead of on your pantry shelf, there is no need for artificial additives or preservatives. The 4 oz. containers are made of non-toxic polypropylene (recyclable).

We personally deliver the blends directly to your home! If you have any questions, just ask our delivery executive. Our people are trained to give you the answers you need. Deliveries are made Sunday afternoon and evening, so we ask that you have someone available to receive your package. The blends are delivered frozen to ensure the highest quality.

Forget to order a blend? No problem. We carry extra stock and just might have what you need on hand. Traveling out of town? We can make arrangements to ship your blends to where you are staying (continental U.S.).

Store the blends in your freezer (up to four months), and defrost in your refrigerator for four hours before serving.

CAUTION: Be sure to immediately refrigerate any blend containers you have opened. Although the containers are microwave-safe, we do not recommend that you thaw the blends in your microwave.

What is ‘USDA Certified Organic’?

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has developed the National Organic Program (NOP) to accredit private businesses, organizations and state agencies that produce, handle, process and distribute agricultural products according to the NOP regulations.

The regulations include avoidance of most synthetic chemical inputs (e.g. fertilizer, pesticides, antibiotics, food additives, etc), genetically-modified organisms, irradiation and the use of sewage sludge.

Farmland must be free from synthetic chemicals for a number of years (often, three or more). Detailed, written production and sales records (audit trail) must be kept. Strict adherence to the physical separation of organic products from non-certified products must be maintained. And companies certified must undergo periodic on-site inspections. Visit the USDA website for more information.

Why choose organic?

Quite simply, because of the quality. While there has been recent concern about the lack of quality control in the many processes involved in bringing food to market, the NOP requirements ensure close inspection of produce from the farm field to delivery to the consumer.

USDA Certified Organic means you are not consuming pesticides, genetically-altered foods or potential contaminants that sometimes enter the food system during processing.

In the case of Nature’s Simple Blends, that also means no artificial additives or preservatives and no salt added. This all-natural approach to baby food can mean better taste, better nutrition and fewer potential problems caused by foods that contain added chemicals. Heck, it even looks better!

Nature’s Simple Blends not only give your child a healthy start in life, but they can also set the stage for a lifetime of healthy eating habits.
